welcome

hopkins/workshop for clown research is a small school for theater clowning. It is an open invitation to discover and explore the clown with the joy of play and improvisation.

The workshop is located in the middle of the fishing settlement of Holm in Schleswig, on the Baltic Sea fjord Schlei. Holm means “small island”. All houses on the Holm are built close to the water. The former pastorate stable is now home to possibly the smallest clown school in the world!

The atelier, an office, costumes, hats and the association headquarters all find space under one roof. Welcome! Come in and clown out!

Theater clowning workshops for adults are an offer to bravely try out the stage and get to know the world of clowns. Clowns are spontaneous, open and vulnerable. They have no plans and enjoy everything they bump into or come across - including failure!

Theater clowning workshops are an opportunity to get a feeling for being on stage and experience the world of clowns.

Your clown's personal journey begins with an introductory day - Clown In, followed by 5 stages that build on each other:

Clown 1- Clown Courage, Clown 2- Clown Curiosity, Clown 3- Clown Chaos, Clown 4-Stage Clown and Clown 5- Social Clown.

Each stage can be repeated several times, each time is unique!

Angela Hopkins, clown, is the founder of the workshop for clown research, artistic director and host. Angela's clowning workshops are personal. Small groups of participants give plenty of space and time for each individual.
